One of the topics that regularly comes up on the prepper/post-collapse pages I frequent is the bug out vehicle. Almost no other topic brings up more diverse and “energetic” opinions than what the best bug out car, truck, or SUV really is. One thing that does seem certain, however, is that you should be prepared to spend several days and nights in your chosen ride. That’s where this “prepper project” to build your own RV comes in.
Now, granted, this isn’t a 100% complete, step-by-step guide to building your own post-apocalyptic home on wheels. What this guide video does do, however, is show that it’s far from impossible to radically modify the interior of your vehicle without a garage full of special tools. That seems to be true whether we’re talking about a large SUV, a minivan, or even a pull-behind “U-Haul” style trailer like this one that was covered by our transportation-focused sister site, Gas 2.
Take a look at the photos, below, which show Rick “the Van Man” building up a UK spec. Ford Transit commercial van and let us know what you think. How hard do you think this would be to pull off in a full-size American van? What about a smaller SUV? Would that make a better “crash pad” when SHTF? Let us know your take on this prepper project in the comments, below.
