It may be hard to believe, but more than ⅓ of the food produced in the world for human consumption is wasted each year. Not only is that a massive waste of resources, and money, but it is a vicious cycle that has been occurring in the developed world for decades.
But food waste goes beyond the old food that you throw out from your refrigerator. Restaurants, grocery stores, and bakeries throw out food every night, often times because it is past the sell by date or too much prepared food was made for the day.
