What we all need right now is community. Whether the community you belong to is online, across the country, or right in your own neighborhood, getting to spend time with people who share your interests or hobbies is incredibly special.
And if the community that you feel most connected to is your neighborhood, there are many different ways to become more involved. Maybe it’s establishing a community garden, sharing a shed where anyone can borrow tools, or maybe, it’s building a little free library!
If you aren’t familiar with them, a Little Free Library is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a relatively small structure housing books that neighbors can drop off to share with others in the area. In addition to dropping off books, you can always grab a new one to enjoy, too.
Little Free Libraries are a great way to share the joy of reading with those around you and the fact that they’re free makes getting a hold of books far more accessible to those who may not have the means to purchase new ones.
You can purchase a Little Free Library kit from the Little Free Library Foundation, or there are a variety of Little Free Library plans you can build from scratch.
If you’re more inclined to build your own, read on to discover some of our favorite Little Free Library plans and learn more about the Little Free Library Foundation.
