Gourd kerosene Lamp.
This lamp was made from the parts of nine different gourds. The oil font was made with a “canteen gourd,” and the chimney was made with two “people gourds”. The oil filler cap and the wick raiser were made with jewelry gourds. There are four windows on the oil font that represent a continuing desert scene of cacti, a jack rabbit, a coyote, rocks, and mountains, etc. By Earl Worick, the “Gourd Guy” of Virginia.

Gourd Table Lamp by Przemek Krawczynski.
“The structure of dried gourd is entirely different than the structure of wood. It is more homogeneous; it does not contain growth rings, fibers or knots. The external layer of the gourd is harder than the deeper one of a light wood. For that matter, the gourd is kind of a phenomenon in nature; it is the raw material that gives enormous processing possibilities.” calabarte.com
