It’s easy to take our access to running water for granted, and the Four Liters water challenge looks to change our perspective on water use.

In the developing world, four liters of water – just over 1 gallon – is all people are able to use in a day. That’s not just for drinking. It includes cooking, cleaning, and bathing. To put that into perspective, a conventional shower uses 7-10 gallons of water per minute.

Jeff McIntire-Strasburg at our sister site Sustainablog has the details on a water challenge coming up in October that’s encouraging folks to try living with water scarcity for just a few days.
