It’s good for the planet, good for animals, and good for the people who choose to eat a plant-based vegan diet every day! In just five years, the number of vegans has more than doubled from one percent of the population to 2.5 percent. That might not sound like a lot of people, but 2.5 percent of the global population amounts to 175,000,000 people choosing not to exploit animals every day. And that doesn’t even take into account people who are choosing to eat fewer animals but not identifying as vegan. The graphic below paints an encouraging picture of the vegan movement. We’ve got a long way to go, and sometimes it’s nice to have a reminder of how far veganism has come. The US population is a little over 300 million people. 2.5% of that would be ~7.5 million vegans, but your chart clearly states that there are 1 million vegans in America as of 2013. There must be an error in some of this data. Reply the article also states 2.5% but doesn’t say 2.5% of what. it then multiplies that 2.5% times the world population. but the infographic uses the 2.5% for the US.
