Slow Food Challenge: Plan A Healthy Meal For $5 And You Could Win!

If you want to build a stronger, healthier local community, sharing a meal is a great way to do it.

What does it take to eat well? Is it true that only the rich can afford to eat the local, organic diet that so many of us swear by?

SlowFood America is inviting people everywhere to reject the idea that a “value meal” is something you can only buy at a fast-food restaurant. On September 17th, they’re challenging creative cooks everywhere to get together with family, friends and neighbors for a slow food meal that costs no more than $5 per person.

Sharing food is one of the best ways to reconnect with family and friends, or meet neighbors that you’ve only waved at in passing. If you want to build a stronger, healthier local community, sharing a meal is a great way to do it. In a society where it’s harder for many people to buy fruit than Froot Loops, it’s time we all got together to remember how easy it is to prepare fresh foods for the ones we love.

How To Enter:

1. Contact us with your original recipe for a $5 meal and a picture of the finished product between now and September 17th.

We’ll choose our favorite, and the winner will receive a brand-new copy of The Complete Idiot’s Guide To Eating Local by Diane A. Welland!
