Templeton, California The 6th annual Earth Day Food & Wine Festival at Pomar Junction Vineyards & Winery is a weekend celebration of all that’s good on the Central Coast. Over 200 purveyors of sustainably produced foods and wine will be on hand as growers, vintners, and chefs coming together to serve pairings of award-winning wines with dishes made with locally-sourced fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, olive oils, chocolates, and more. Healdsburg, California Complimentary Vineyard Tours On Sunday, April 22, Quivira Vineyards & Winery, a 100% certified Biodynamic and organic winery’s that is 100% solar, holds of free walking tours of their estate. Visitors can venture into the organic produce garden, meet the resident pigs, cows and chickens, and stroll through the vineyards and cellar to learn about Quivira’s commitment to Biodynamics. Each tour is limited to 20 guests so reservations are required.
Livermore Valley, California Wente Vineyard’s Full Day Celebration On Sunday, April 22, Wente opens up for guests to enjoy a sampling of food, wine and live music. Festivities include information booths from local green and sustainable businesses, garden tours, kids activities, wine tastings, and of course presentations detailing Wente’s impressive sustainability program.
New York City Green Festival will be in New York for the first time over Earth Day weekend and they have all sorts of wine and food offerings. Held in the North Hall of the Jacob Javits Center on April 21-22, 2012, the Organic Beer & Wine Pavilion will feature unique brewers, and wineries, including Peak Organic Brewing Company, Long Trail Brewing & Otter Creek Brewing, The Naked Grape and Wild Blossom Meadery and Winery. As for food, they have a dedicated Good Food Stage as well as a variety of local, organic, vegan food vendors including The Good Food Stage upon which local chefs and entrepreneurs will demo healthy cooking ideas, including macrobiotic sushi; an organic, Union Square Farmer’s Market brunch and organic vegan and vegetarian fare from local restaurants including Divine chocolate, Alive & Radiant Foods
and Raaw Juice.
