CHOW won for Best Website Focusing on Food, Beverage, Restaurants, or Nutrition. Here are some other great foodie websites that didn’t make the cut (besides Eat.Drink.Better, of course!). Categories include Best Vegan Recipes, Best Seasonal Recipes, Best Wine Blog, and more. Best Vegan Recipes The Post Punk Kitchen (theppk.com): I’m not vegan, but this site is one of my favorite sources for new recipes. Whether you’re looking for vegan comfort food, trying to replicate that fancy dish you had at a vegetarian restaurant, or simply want to learn how to bake dairy-free, this site always delivers. Best Seasonal Recipes SAVEUR.com: It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the gazillions of food blogs out there. SAVEUR.com does the work for you. The website version of the magazine highlights the best recipes of the blogosphere. The site’s recipe collections always have a seasonal emphasis, so you can easily browse 20 Spring Pastas or 16 Winter Vegetable Recipes. This is my go-to site for dinner ideas, no matter what the season. Smitten Kitchen (smittenkitchen.com): Deb is a farmers-market devotee, so she’s always posting wonderful seasonal recipes, like this Spring Panzanella. The site is extremely organized and search-friendly, allowing you to find that perfect recipe for your bounty of radishes in the spring or surplus of butternut squash in the fall. Plus the photos are gorgeous. Best Recipes for Hunters and Foragers Hunter Angler Gardener Cook (honest-food.net): This website was nominated for the Best Blog category by the James Beard Foundation, but I thought it was worth mentioning again. If you’re into wild foods like venison or morels, this is your site. As an avid forager, I’m kind of obsessed with it. Best for Following Food Trends The Atlantic Food Channel (www.theatlantic.com/food): This site is a must-read for learning about the latest news in the world of food. Posts are written by influential foodies, from famous farmers to rock-star chefs to expert nutritionists. Plus it’s a great source for recipes. Best for Following Food Politics Civil Eats (civileats.com): This website is usually the first to call attention to political issues surrounding food. It’s also often the first to propose solutions to food-related problems. Best Wine Blog Good Wine Under $20 (goodwineunder20.blogspot.com): Because who doesn’t like tasty, affordable wine?
